Because you’ve got kids to feed, a business to run, and exactly zero time for fluff.
Let me be straight with you.
You’re over there pouring money into ads, stressing about your Instagram aesthetic, and trying to figure out if you should be on TikTok while one of the most powerful money-making tools you already own is just sitting there. Doing nothing. Collecting digital dust like that treadmill in the corner of your bedroom.
Your email list. That’s it. That’s the thing.
I’m not here to sell you something complicated or convince you that you need to become a tech wizard. I’m here as your friend who happens to know this stuff, telling you woman to woman, that if you’re not using your email list to make money on autopilot, you are leaving real dollars on the table every single day. And I know you. You don’t leave money on the table.
So here’s what nobody tells you when you’re building a business between school drop-offs and client calls: every platform you’re hustling on, you don’t own any of it. Instagram can tank your reach overnight. TikTok could get banned. Facebook ads get more expensive every year. You could wake up tomorrow and your account is gone, hacked, suspended, algorithm’d into oblivion.
Your email list though? That is yours.
Nobody can take it. No algorithm controls it. When you hit send, it goes directly into the inbox of someone who already said yes, I want to hear from you. That is not a small thing. That is everything.
And the numbers back it up. Email marketing returns somewhere around $36 to $42 for every single dollar spent.
Show me a social media ad that does that consistently. You can’t. Because it doesn’t exist.
Now here’s the part where I call you out, with love. What I see over and over again with smart, capable women running real businesses is this: they built a list and then they just don’t use it. Or they only email when they have something to sell, so it feels gross and pushy every time they do it. Or they signed up for a platform three years ago, imported their contacts, and have sent maybe four emails since. Sound familiar? No judgment. But we need to fix it.
Because a neglected email list doesn’t just sit there neutrally. It goes cold. People forget who you are. And when you finally show up in their inbox after six months of silence asking them to buy something, they either ignore you or unsubscribe.
That’s not a list. That’s a liability.
A working email list, one with the right automations set up, is the closest thing to passive income that actually exists in this business. Emails going out while you’re at soccer practice. While you’re finally getting four hours of sleep. While you’re doing literally anything else. That’s what we’re building toward.
The automations that actually move the needle are simpler than you think. The first one is your welcome sequence, and if you don’t have one, this is where you start. When someone joins your list they are warm, curious, and paying attention. That is the single best moment to make an impression and most business owners waste it with one generic thanks for subscribing email and then radio silence. A proper welcome sequence is three to five emails that tells them who you are, shows them you understand their problem, gives them something genuinely useful, and naturally leads them toward working with you or buying from you. You set it up once and it runs forever. Forever.
The next one is abandoned cart and if you sell anything online and don’t have this running, stop reading right now and go set it up. I’m serious. Someone put your product in their cart. They wanted it. Then a kid screamed or the phone rang and they got pulled away. A well-timed follow-up email or two brings a huge chunk of those people back to finish the purchase.
This one sequence alone can recover thousands in revenue you didn’t even know you were losing every single month.
Then there’s your post-purchase sequence, because the sale is not the finish line, it’s the beginning of a relationship. You thank them, tell them what to expect, invite them to share their experience, and introduce them to what else you offer. Done right, it turns a one-time buyer into someone who comes back and brings their friends. And finally, your re-engagement sequence for the people who’ve gone quiet on your list. A short honest series, something like hey I haven’t seen you around in a while, still want to be here, works better than you’d expect. Some will come back. The ones who don’t, you clean them off your list and you move on. A smaller engaged list makes you more money than a big dead one every single time.
Now when it comes to actually choosing a platform, it matters more than people realize. Not because one is magic and one isn’t, but because using the wrong tool for your business means working twice as hard for half the result. We are official partners with both Mailchimp and Klaviyo, which means our clients get prime pricing better than what you’d find going direct, and direct access to the internal teams at both platforms. Not a support ticket. Not a chatbot. Real people who pick up the phone. When something breaks we get answers fast. When new features drop we know early. That access makes a real difference when you’re trying to move quickly and you don’t have time to sit on hold or wade through a help center.
Mailchimp is the move if you want something intuitive and easy to get running without a manual. Great for service-based businesses, coaches, consultants, anyone who needs a reliable system without the overwhelm. Klaviyo is built for product-based businesses and e-commerce. If you’re on Shopify or you want to get serious about marketing to people based on what they actually buy and browse, Klaviyo is in a different league.
Here’s what I want you to do this week. Not someday. This week.
Pick one thing. Just one. Set up your welcome sequence, even three emails is infinitely better than zero. Or send one email to your list that asks for nothing, just give them something useful and warm the relationship back up. Or log into your platform and actually look at your numbers so you know what you’re working with. Or if you sell products and don’t have that abandoned cart sequence running, that one is the most urgent. Go do that first.
You don’t have to do it all. You just have to start.
You built this business with your own two hands. You show up even when it’s hard, you figure it out even when nobody shows you how, and you do it all with approximately no sleep and a to-do list that never ends. Your email list is one of the only things in your business that can work just as hard as you do even when you can’t. The women I see winning consistently without burning themselves into the ground have their email working for them in the background, making money while they’re present with their kids or finally getting some rest.
That can be you. It should be you.
And if you want help building it the right way, with the right platform, the best pricing, and people who actually know what they’re doing, you know where to find me. Let’s build something that makes you money while you sleep.
God knows you don’t get enough of it...
